On October 30, 2016, Joo-Hyun Song, former administrative judge of the KIPO Board of Patent Appeal and current managing partner at YOU ME, gave a televised interview on an IP-related broadcasting station to discuss ways in which patent attorneys could play a role in protecting industrial property rights. Other topics discussed also involved the correlation between the protection of intellectual property rights and the development of the economy.
During his interview, Mr. Song strongly emphasized the need to enhance patent technology transactions, especially with respect to dormant patents that cannot be realized due to a lack of financial resources or commercialization opportunities. In order to realize this, he urged the government and media to take more of an active interest in this area.
